What are we all about?

Our fellowship is open to and includes people from a wide spectrum of nations and traditions who want to know more about Christian life or want to worship with other Christians. Our Church and sermons affirm and cover the core beliefs of the Christian faith. Click here to find out What We Believe.

Fishers Creek was started by a group of English Speaking Expatriates, Students, and Local Residents who wanted a place to worship God where the Christian fellowship was rich, the teaching was relevant, and the worship was real.

In 2004, we began a search to find a growing, local Swedish church to partner with. We believe that Fiskebäcks Missionskyrka is the perfect fit for our Vision. We are extremely thankful to have found a church that has lovingly opened their doors and hearts to us.

Fiskebäcks MIssionskyrka was growing by leaps and bounds and had just finished building their new, and much larger, Church. That meant that we were able to move into their smaller Church and begin services right away. We may meet at separate locations and worship in different languages, but we are an integral part of Fiskebäcks Missionkyra and they make us feel that way whenever we worship with them.

We have a full Sunday School Program for kids of all ages with a dedicated teaching staff following programs and activities relevant to the childrens respective ages. Sunday School is held during the Church Service.

We also have quite a few Bible Study Groups and Small Groups during the week for all ages and stages of belief and a great Youth Program for teens.

Our Sunday Service is a formal church service given in English. We have inspirational, contemporary Christian music each Sunday using multi-media technology as well as live music of all sorts. All teaching is done under the authority of our head pastor, Gustaf Björkman. After the service we gather together with the children for refreshments and a time to chat and fellowship

What do we believe?

The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority for faith and life.  (II Timothy 3:15-17, II Peter 1:19-21)

God is One Being eternally existing in three persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and sovereign ruler of the universe, righteous in all His ways and holy in all His works. (Mark 12:29, Isaiah 45:21, Matthew 28:19, Mark 1:10-11, Revelation 4:11, Deuteronomy 32:4)

God created man in his image and likeness; that Adam sinned and that by his disobedience the entire human race was alienated from God. As a result, we are all depraved and our sins prevent us from entering God’s eternal kingdom. (Genesis 2:7; Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 5:12; Romans 3:10-12, 23; I John 1:8)

Jesus Christ is the eternal begotten Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary---fully God---fully man.  Jesus lived a sinless life obeying God perfectly, died for our sins on the cross, rose again from dead, and has returned to heaven, exalted at the right hand of God. (Matthew 1:18-21; John 1:1-2, 14; Philippians 2:6-9; Hebrews 4:15; Romans 5:8; Acts 1:3, 11; Acts 5:30-32)

Forgiveness of our sins is a free gift offered by God through His grace and is personally received by repentance from sin and by faith in Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross. (Ephesians 2:8-9; Mark 1:15, Acts 20:21; Romans 3:22-25; Acts 4:12)

The ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.  During this age, He convicts men of sin and judgment; and indwells, guides, instructs, and empowers the believer for godly living and service. (John 16:8-15; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:22-23; I Corinthians 12:4-12)

The Lord Jesus Christ will personally return in glory and triumph for the final judgment of believers to everlasting blessedness and of unbelievers to everlasting punishment. (II Thessalonians 1:6-10; Revelation 20:11-15, 21:1-7; Matthew 25:31-46)

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper are commanded by Jesus Christ to be practiced by the Church.  We also recognize there are many different practices among true believers today concerning these 2 ordinances.  (Matthew 28:19, Luke 22:17-20)
